End of season statement
We are hugely disappointed with the way the season ended. This outcome is particularly frustrating given the high expectations at the start of the campaign, driven by what was widely regarded as a young and talented squad—arguably the strongest assembled since 2023.
It is clear that decisions taken at managerial level failed to provide the stability required for sustained success. Repeated managerial changes and ongoing concerns around player attitude, behaviour and commitment all contributed to this situation.
These shortcomings became increasingly apparent during the closing stages of the season, most notably across the final dozen fixtures, and were reflected both in on‑pitch performances and in public commentary. Regrettably, this appears to form part of a recurring pattern at Watford FC, evident over the past three to four seasons.
The WSB welcomes Scott Duxbury’s acknowledgement that things have gone wrong. It is now essential that meaningful lessons are learned. A thorough, root‑and‑branch review of the club’s football operations since relegation from the Premier League is urgently required. We look forward to engaging constructively with the club on the outcomes of this review and remain ready to support the restoration of standards, accountability and a clear, long‑term strategic direction.
